Marco’s Pizza® ranks on Military Times and Entrepreneur Best Franchises for Veterans lists

With franchise fee discounts, a strong support structure and a community focus, veteran-owned franchises are on the rise at Marco’s Pizza.

Marco’s Pizza has ranked as one of Entrepreneur magazine’s “7 Best Franchising Opportunities for U.S. Veterans” and #8 on the Military Times’ 2018 Best Franchises for Veterans list.

This marks our second year in a row on the Military Times’ Top 10 and comes shortly after ranking #25 on the overall Entrepreneur Franchise 500. That speaks to our efforts to provide strong franchise opportunities for veterans.

Veterans own more than 5% of Marco’s Pizza franchise locations.

“Marco’s Pizza isn’t just one of the best franchises for veterans, it’s one of the best franchises – period,” wrote Matthew McCreary in Entrepreneur.

Over the past year, we’ve stepped up our commitment to the veteran community in a number of ways, including doubling the discount on the initial franchise fee to $10,000 for qualified U.S. veterans. We also waive the initial franchise fee entirely for qualified U.S. veterans with a 50% or greater military service-connected disability rating, and we’ve implemented franchise fee discounts for police and firefighters. Now is the perfect time for veterans to explore our franchise opportunity.

Why veterans thrive with Marco’s Pizza

Veterans own 42 Marco’s Pizza franchises. And that number is growing larger – veterans represented more than 7% of the 111 locations opened in 2017.

“With high growth and continuity rates across the board, Marco’s Pizza outshined its competitors in the area of investment quality,” Military Times said.

The reason we have such a large number of veterans in our system is because we’ve made it a priority. We value the sacrifices they’ve made for our country and want to help them transition into business ownership in their civilian life. And we know they have the skillset it takes to build a business.

“We work as a team,” says military and law enforcement veteran Edwin Baron, who recently opened a Marco’s Pizza franchise in Apopka, FL. “The Marco’s team wants to see you succeed, and they help you succeed. They have the type of structure that we’re used to in the military and in law enforcement.”

Veteran and franchisee Scott Quagliata agrees.

“Veterans possess skills that are important in the franchise business, like leadership, teamwork and self-discipline,” he says. “At the end of the day, it’s all about your hard work.”

Two straight years in the Top 10 says a lot about our brand’s commitment to veterans.

Strong results for veteran-owned franchises

Those skills have translated into strong results – veteran-owned Marco’s Pizza franchises have  a 100% three-year continuity rate and 121% three-year growth rate, according to Military Times.

A key part of our franchisees’ growth has been the fact that we never forget where business is really earned. Marco’s Pizza is not just one big national company – we’re a network of entrepreneurs who care about and connect with their communities. Each location is a place for family dinners, after-school parties, charity fundraisers and more, all thanks to the dedicated business owners who make each franchise into a neighborhood pizza place.

“As a Marco’s Pizza owner, you’re your own boss. You drive your own results,” says Quagliata. “If you’re willing to work hard and put the energy into it and ask questions, you can make your own dream and destiny.”
