Four Restaurant Concepts That Are Sizzling Hot

FOUR RESTAURANT CONCEPTS THAT ARE SIZZLING HOT

GHOST KITCHENS AND THIRD-PARTY DELIVERY

Increasing in popularity due to COVID-19, ghost kitchens — or virtual restaurants  — do not have a storefront and rely solely on third-party delivery apps to receive their orders. While these types of online food delivery concepts do not offer a storefront, they do broaden the audience to capture consumers who may not be as familiar with the brand.  Anticipating consumer trends and the heightened demand for delivery, Marco’s Pizza has established relationships with the major third-party delivery apps which operate in the majority of its locations, and Marco’s is testing the ghost kitchen concept.

DELIVERY/CARRYOUT

The hero of the food industry – especially the pizza market – delivery and carryout (DelCo) has experienced an incredible boost in demand during the last couple of years. In the aftermath of COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines, consumers changed the way they dined, relying heavily on third-party or restaurant-specific apps to order their meals.

Pizza was able to pivot quickly because DelCo is where this industry already excelled. That’s why the category thrived even as other restaurants were forced to close at the onset of the pandemic.

At Marco’s Pizza, we’re experts in the DelCo space, having implemented the best ways to deliver these services in our business model. Our goal is to provide a smooth experience for customers and franchisees alike. We meet our consumers where they are – in turn, creating more opportunity for our franchise owners to retain repeat customers and increase market share.

FAMILY-STYLE

Restaurants like these typically have larger meal portions so everyone at the table can a try a little of everyone else’s dishes. Serving a large variety of cuisines, these restaurants require a wait staff to offer full table service. Family-style restaurants tend to be more casual and relaxed for customers but can have higher staffing costs for owners due to the need for a full wait staff.

Those interested in starting a family-style restaurant do need to take into consideration the labor shortage currently plaguing the country. Family-style restaurant owners could face more issues with recruitment and retention. Another drawback of family-style restaurants is they require much larger spaces incurring more overhead costs and potential risk.

FAST-CASUAL RESTAURANTS

This concept is the fusion between fast food and casual dining. These restaurant concepts have a nice sit-down atmosphere with the convenience of food made-to-order and disposable cutlery and dishes. Fast-casual eateries operate with lower labor costs because customers typically pick up their food at a designated area and bring it to their desired table.

MARCOS PIZZA: A TRIED-AND-TRUE CONCEPT

A force to be reckoned with in the restaurant franchising space, Marco’s Pizza has a proven delivery/carryout concept with over 1,000 locations in 33 states, the Bahamas, and Puerto Rico. Marco’s has plenty of territories available for continuous growth and is ideal for multi-unit operators looking to expand their portfolios.   And to ease the development process for our franchisees, we’ve recently enhanced four critical areas: financing, growth incentives, real estate, design and construction.
